John Hartley

 

John specialises in serious crime and fraud litigation. He has
experience of defending prosecutions by the Crown Prosecution
Service, Fraud Prosecution Division, HM Revenue & Customs
and The Business Enterprise for Regulatory Reform (BERR,
formerly the DTI).

John also represents members of the Armed Forces regarding
both Courts-Martial and civilian court cases. He regularly attends
both civilian and Military Police interviews both in the UK and
overseas.

John joined Malletts in 2006, having previously been called to the
Bar as a member of Middle Temple Inn. He then went on to
complete the Qualified Lawyer Transfer Test with BPP Law School.

John has assisted in the defence of clients accused of high value
mortgage fraud, missing trader fraud, share fraud (boiler room),
tax evasion and money laundering. He also advises upon matters
concerning the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 including restraint,
forfeiture and confiscation.

John is a member of the Law Society, the Young Fraud Lawyers’
Association and the Association of Military Court Advocates.
